Bonjour !

Hello !

It’s already November !!! It is also the first Saturday of the month, which means Colour Challenge at Less is More ! This challenge is a little bit particular since it lasts 2 weeks. This gives you even more time to delight us with your beautiful creations! So for this challenge, we would like to see the colours of the fireworks ! Our generous sponsor for the month of November is Dies to die for.

We have also the great pleasure to welcome our September winner, Birgit from Rapport från ett skrivbord, as Guest Designer. Birgit is a true artist and her creations are always stylish, CAS and elegant. They are true works of Art ! I urge you to visit her blog and to leave her a lovely comment !

I must admit that when I saw the challenge theme, I was a little freaked out because I do not have stamps, stencils or dies that represent fireworks. But after all it’s a Colour challenge and then looking well in your stash and with your creativity, I’m sure you will offer us wonderful projects !

Here is what I have for you this week.

When I saw the beautiful stamp “Organic wishes” of the Uniko October release, I immediately knew that I will (also) use it for this challenge.

On a Mixed Media strip of paper, I stamped the image several times with different colours. Before changing the colour I, each time, stamped a second time over it with Versamark ink and I heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I then applied 3 shades of Distress ink, going from the lightest to the darkest, beginning each time with the center of the image. The ink does not stay on the image since it was previously embossed. This is the “embossed resist” technique.

To finish I adhered the strip over a dark blue double card then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.

Stamp: UNIKO “Organic Wishes”, Simply Graphic “Planche bonheur et prospérité” (sentiment) – Inks: Brilliance “Aurora, Pearlescent sky blue, Rocket red, Pearlescent lime”, Distress “Chipped sapphire, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled glass” – Embellishment: WOW “Silver Pearl” EP.

2/ Bright & Happy New Year

For this one, I used a (NBUS) stencil that made me think about the round shape of the fireworks explosion, and I simply played with the colours.

I placed the stencil on a double white card and I just colored each round composing a ring in a different color from the previous ring. I moved the stencil and I started again with other colors and so on.

To finish, I simply stamped the sentiment in black.

Stamp: UNIKO “Festive Sentiments” – Inks: Distress “Festive berries, Picked raspberry, Worn lipstick, Spun sugar, Lucky clover, Cracked pistachio, Twisted citron, Mustard seed, Squeezed lemonade, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid lagoon, Salty ocean, Tumbled glass”, Versafine “Onyx Black” – Stencil: MFT “Circle burst”.

3/ Meilleurs voeux

For this last card, the idea came to me one day when I was playing with my Brushos. After moistening my watercolour paper, some Brushos powder fell on it and exploded like a fireworks rocket. I tried here to reproduce this incident with several colors.

I moistened watercolour paper and sprinkled on it a first color of Brushos and I spritzed over the powder slightly so that it spreads. I dried with the heat gun before starting again with another color. And so on.

To give an even more festive and bright look,  I then made splashes of golden paint. Once dry, I die cut this square and I foam mounted it on the double white card. Then I stamped the sentiment and I heat embossed with gold powder.

Finally, I think this card is my favorite although the picture is more untidy.

Stamp: Florilège “bonne santé” – Brushos: “Vermillion, Gamboge, Ost. blue, Leaf green, Sea green, Turquoise, Rose red”, Versamark – Die: SSS “Stitched squares” – Embellishment: SSS “Antique gold”.
