Less is More Week #356 – Let it shine !

Bonjour !

Êtes-vous prêts pour un nouveau défi ? Cette semaine chez Less is More nous vous demandons de faire briller vos projets ! Tout en restant Clean & Simple bien sûr !

Hello !

Are you ready for a new challenge ? This week at Less is More we ask you to “Let is Shine” ! Still making it Clean & Simple of course !

The countdown before Christmas is launched so I propose you today cards on this theme only.

1/ Meilleurs Voeux avec Washi / Best wishes with Washi

I don’t know why but lately I’m very tempted by geometric fir trees and having recently bought glittered Washi tapes, I thought they would go well for this theme.

As you know, it is quite difficult to bring out the shiny side on a picture, but each stripe shines in the light as well as the little star.

On a double linen and iridescent card (even more shine !), I stamped the sentiment and I heat embossed it.

Then I die cut Washi stripes in order to make a triangle and I stuck them over the card. The little star is die cut in a glittery paper and stuck on the top of the triangle. And that’s it !

To complete my stock of cards, I made the same card in different color shades…

And one more triangle ! This time I cut it in gold mirror paper. In fact I fussy cut the triangle and I die cut the pinpoint fir.

On a double golden card, I adhered a white cardstock on which I previously stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. Then I glued the fir on it and to finish I decorated it with red sequins !

One more time I decided to make a second one but this time with the sentiment in French.

Stamp: CAS-ual fridays “Lovely snowflake” – Die: Simply Graphic “Sapins à trous” – Embellishment: Little things from Lucy’s Cards sequins “Ruby Ring”.

3/ All is calm, all is bright / Tout est calme et tout luit

With this song in mind, I will end up with a card where the evening star shines in a gleaming sky !

I really loved to do the Brushos card representing the fireworks (see HERE) and I wanted to make the same kind of card to illustrate a star-studded sky !

I moistened a mixed media paper with a brush and water. On my work mat I stamped three Distress inks and sprayed water on it. With a brush I made ink stains, alternating colors, on the already wet paper so that the ink diffuses better. I dried from time to time between 2 layers of ink.

Once the ink was dry I made splatters of all sizes with golden paint.

I also wanted the star to be with the same golden colour so I brushed several layers of golden paint on a strip of paper, I dried it and I die cut the star.

Then I die cut the star in the starry paper to replace it by the golden one. So that it pops up even more, I die cut two other stars and glued them to the back of the golden one.

To finish I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment with gold EP, then I foam mounted the starry sky.

  1. Wow, when creating these you’ve got so many new Christmas cards to your collection, well done Izzy! I’m wondering how you were able to cut the glittery wash tape so straight -the trees you created with it look amazing and I’m in awe how you’ve managed to execute this so well! Super job! Your brusho sky looks amazing too -I love the gold splatters, they add a lot of interest and shine. The golden card is another fab make -perfect for mass producing and yet very detailed. Have a fun rest of the week!

  2. Incredible, Izzy! Someone gave me glitter washi tape and I never figured out how to use it as I rarely ever use washi tape. So clever of you to create glittery geometric trees! Love that.
