Less is More #372 – OLC Thinking of you

Bonjour !

Hello !

I hope that you all are fine and ready for our last challenge of May at Less is More. It is the dreadful One Layer Card with the theme “Thinking of You”. We also finish the month with our sponsor Winnie & Walter. I look forward to seeing in the gallery what you will show us !

Voici mes cartes / Here are my cards

For this first card I chose a floral theme, with in mind the image of a field full of wild grass and flowers of all colors.

On a double white card I randomly stamped the different elements of the stamp set and just used masking for the flowers.

To finish I stamped the sentiment in black. See how simple it is !

Stamp: Aladine “Clear graminé”& Artemio “textes manuscrits” (sentiment) – Inks: Catherine Pooler “It’s a girl, It’s a boy, Tiki Torch, Party Dress, Lime Rickey”.

2/ Thinking of you (using sponsor stamp)

When I saw one of the stamps of the set, It made me think of a bubble in a comic when it comes to thinking. I just added smaller bubbles.

On a double white card I stamped the sentiment. I stamped the biggest circle with Versamark and embossed with white powder. For the other circles I used round stamps that I then masked around to come stamping the small patterns of the big bubble inside.

With a brush, water and inks, I then watercolored inside the patterns, and to finish, I masked the rounds to make splatters all around.

To tell you the truth, I started by stamping the circles in black, but before I even try to colour them I thought it was too dark, so I made the card with the embossing in white. As I didn’t want to throw away the first try, I finally have it colored but this time in more masculine tones.

3/ Watercolour Thinking of you

Recently I’ve been watching a video from Cynde Whitlow, where she showed a watercoloring with clear stamp technique. So I wanted to try it on this new multi-technique paper I bought (fine texture and almost white). This technique is even better with layering stamps.

I first drew a square with a pencil then I made the blue background with inks and water.

Then, to stamp the image, I coloured my background stamp with a marker and I sprayed a little bit of water. I repeated the operation until I was happy with the result. It’s important to dry between each stamping. Once the background colour was made, I started again with the second stamp for the details with a darker colour.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment and I drew a frame with a very fine marker.

Stamp: Altenew “Lotus” & Uniko “Simply said block II” (sentiment) – Inks: Distress “Salty ocean & shaded lilac” & Altenew “Silver stone” (sentiment) – Markers: Fabrico “Bubble gum, Lipstick pink, Green apple, Pea pod”.

  1. Izzy, these are terrific. I loved your first card when I first saw it on the DT blog, such a lovely design with the flowers along the base. And then, wow, two more fabulous designs. The speech bubbles from the tree set was an awesome idea, works brilliantly for this theme, and the square with your flower stem just grounds the design perfectly. Great work, and thanks so much for playing along at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge xx

  2. These are three superb designs Izzy and you have really put some thought into how to make them all look so different. Your water coloured lotus is really soft and dreamy, the circles are fun and funky and your meadow of beautiful grasses is just beautiful. Lovely inspiration xx

  3. Bonjour, Isabelle! J’mapelle es Marisela. Je suis de Etas Unis (Texas). I hope I didn’t kill French with that. ha-ha Anita in France (first comment listed) is mon amie. She is my friend who tolerates my attempts at French. ha-ha I speak Spanish so it is similar. I just subscribed to your blog and I am looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful cards! your friend in San Antonio, Texas, USA

I absolutely love your wildflower/wild grasses meadow … it’s delicate, whimsical and wonderfully dainty … oui, j’adore! Fabulous inspiration! Bises et hugs, Anita 🙂

  5. HI Izzy! I am somehow having trouble posting a comment on your blog. This is my third attempt and let’s see if it works! I really love all three cards that you made. The choice of pastels is very pretty. And the idea of masking and keeping the stamp in a circle and white heat embossing… very very interesting! I really love your card. Thank you so much for joining us on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. xx Ankita

  6. Hi Izzy! I love how you placed the stamp in bubbles. Such a pretty card, especially the pastel soft colors. The whole design and concept is really out of the box thinking and gives more creativity than just using the stamps as in. Thank you so much for joining us on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. xx Ankita

  8. Such delicate and pretty cards. The first one is CAS perfection with the prettiest of stamping and masking. Wow to the next two…. and love the large circle stamped in the black and the white. Great idea to then mask them off and fill them with stamping. Such a unique and beautiful effect. Such a genteel third card with wonderful water colouring x What a tret with these cards Izzy x

  9. Hi Izzy, absolutely love your water coloring with clear stamp technique. The soft colors look so lovely together. The way the image is partially out of the frame makes the design very interesting. great take on the inspired by nature challenge. Thanks for playing along with AAA Cards. Hugs – Bharati

  10. Aaahhh-mazing, Izzy! Three fabulous and inspirational one layer masterpieces! Both your floral cards are beautifully coloured. Your second thought bubble card is fun and creative. Awesome job! Have a wonderful weekend. xx

  11. These cards are wonderful, Izzy! I love the fresh meadow of grasses and flowers on your first card and the composition of those thought bubbles cards is fabulous. Your watercolour effect on the last card adds an artsy touch. Great inspiration x

  12. 3 fab cards Izzy! Once again you’ve been very innovative with your stamps, these one layers are beautiful! Your 3rd card is my favorite because of the beautiful watercolor look. That flower looks so pretty and the bg you created is stunning! Love the “thinking bubble idea” in your second design and the soft look of your first card. I actually thought it was one stamped image so you did amazing job with your masking! Have a super weekend!
