Less is More #397 – Colours

Bonjour !

Hello !

We are already in June! It means several things: it’s soon the end of the school year (so holidays !), it’s soon summer, and …. in 6 months and 18 days it’s Christmas !! Perhaps this new challenge and the very nice theme that Less is More offers you will inspire you to start making your end of year cards ….

We are also pleased to welcome Bev, our guest designer as well as the founder of Uniko who will be our sponsor this month.

Voici mes cartes / Here are my cards

1/ Happy birthday (using sponsor stamps)

When I first saw the colours of this challenge, I first thought that it would be difficult to find ideas, and then thinking about it I saw the colours of succulents.

On a white double card I then stamped this wonderful wreath of succulents in purple and I coloured it with a blue marker.

Then I stamped the sentiment both in purple and in Duck egg blue and to finish I glued some sequins with the same shades.

Stamp: Uniko “Happy succulents” – Marker: Promarker “Cool aqua, Duck egg” – Inks: Altenew “Midnight violet” – Sequins : Little Things form Lucy’s cards “Magical”.

2/ If friends were flowers, I’d pick you (using sponsor stamps)

For this second card, I used a background stamp from the last Uniko’s release.

I stamped it in purple on the card and I made the colouring in blue with a colour pencil.

In a white card stock I die cut a panel on which I stamped a blue flower and its hear in purple as well as the sentiment.

To finish I foam mounted this panel on the double card.

Stamp: Uniko “Background blocks mid century modern II” & “kindness blooms”, Clearly Besotted “scribbled flowers” (sentiment) – Pencil: Faber-Castell Polychromos “Light blue #147” – Inks: Altenew “Midnight violet”, CP “It’s a boy” – Die : Spellbinders “5×7 modern stationary”.

3/ Happy birthday

Update : Happy and honoured to be one of the favourites over at June HLS Watercolour challenge

To make this card I stamped and white heat embossed the image on a Bristol Strathmore paper then I used my Zig and a brush to watercolour.

Then I adhered the bristol on a blue paper then on a purple card. To finish I stamped the sentiment in dark grey.

Stamp: STAMPlorations “in bloom: precious plumerias”,Uniko “Pure florals: chrysanthemum” (sentiment) – Pencil: Zig clean color Real Brush “#036, 081, 082”, Faber-Castell Polychromos “#134, #160” – Inks: Altenew “Industrial diamond”.

  1. Gorgeous cards Izzy. You have used one of my favourite STAMPlorations stamps for our HLS Watercolour Challenge and how beautiful it is in the bright colours. Thanks so much for joining us this month at HLS.

  2. Gorgeous cards, Izzy! Love your watercoloring and the shadows around the florals. Thanks for playing along with us at AAA Birthday Challenge. Looking forward to seeing your creative projects in the future galleries again.

  3. Wow! You have totally rocked this colour challenge Izzy! Those are 3 incredible cards and it amazes me how you come up with 3 totally different styles each challenge. The succulents card is superb and you are so right that the colours suit succulents perfectly. I love the cool and funky look of the second card. But I have to admit that I am smitten with the last card – it is incredibly beautiful xx

  4. What a wonderful set of cards! I so love each one and they are all so different! I am extra fond of the geometric one. I love the way you rounded the corner of the white piece and placed the scribbly flower in that corner. Absolutely awesome design! The two florals are gorgeous. I especially love the cascading blooms and the light inking around the flowers. Just gorgeous, Izzy!! Big hugs…

  5. What a gorgeous trio, Izzy … I love how you’ve used simply the two colours with no neutral at all … they’re so striking! I couldn’t choose a favourite as all three are fabulous! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out! Bises, Anita 🙂

  6. What a gorgeous colour combo and I think you used it beautifully. Love your one-layer design. Your flowers are coloured so well, lots of detail and blending. And all that crisp, white space is heavenly. So very glad you joined us at TIME OUT!

  7. Wow, Isabelle, what beautifully designed cards! I especially love the brightly coloured floral which you’ve entered into our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. A great mix of colours with those Zigs. The white heat embossing is so effective against them. Thanks so much for being such a frequent participant in our challenge. Your cards are inspiring.

  8. Oh la la ! Tu anticipes loin Izzy ! 🤣

  9. Oh love those colours! And such a fantastic use of them too Izzy. Brilliant cards! Thanks for playing at AAA Cards 5th Birthday Bash and AAA Birthday too.

  10. WOW Izzy, they are all so beautiful!I love this colour combination. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous zig coloured card with us at Watercooler Wednesday.

  11. You’ve been as productive as always, Izzy! I think the second card is my favorite… I love the retro vibe the background pattern has! The design of this card made me think of a purse… Very inventive and fun! Beautiful coloring in all of your cards. I should remember to use some other than black ink for outline stamping sometimes… The way you’ve colored in purple outlines with blue looks very fresh and pretty. Have a wonderful weekend! xxx
