Less is More Week #340 – Tropical Fruits

Bonjour !

Hello !

It’s the first Saturday of the month, at Less is More it means that it is a colour challenge ! This week we would like to see in your creations the colours of the tropical fruits !

A very nice challenge that allows us to play freely with all these beautiful warm and vibrant colours ! This week we are also joined by Tara from Seven Hills Crafts who will be our sponsor for the month of August so do not hesitate to go on her blog and leave her a lovely comment.

Cette semaine je vous propose 3 cartes. This week I propose you 3 cards.

If for us summer rhymes with holidays, for some as the ants, summer is the most intense period in charge of work, and we have had a lot of them in our house this year!

On a double white card I made a composition with different stamp sets of fruits. I stamped, masked and embossed the different fruits and I coloured them with colour pencils.

To finish I stamped these adorable ants and the sentiment in black and I heat embossed with clear powder.

Stamps: Newton’s Nook “Pineapple design”, Lawn Fawn “Happy Summer”, Hero Arts “Let’s get fresh” – Inks: Memento Luxe “Dandelion”, Hero Arts “Caramel”, Versafine “Onyx Black” – Colour Pencils: Faber-Castell “#123, #142, #225, #167, #159 (watermelon)”, “#205, #170, #168 (Kiwi), “#102, #111, #117 (Orange).i

2/ Happy birthday to you / Joyeux anniversaire à toi

Last Wednesday it was Sarah‘s birthday and I made this card for her. And as the saying goes, better late than never, I invite you to go on her blog to wish her a belated happy birthday !

On a double white card I dry embossed a frame with the scoring board then I masked the outlines with masking tape.

With the pineapple die, I die cut foam in order to make a stamp that I used as the first layer with another colour.

Then I stamped the 3 pineapples that are in the stamp set over the first layers. And I stamped the pineapple leaves after having masked the body of the pineapple.

I stamped the sentiment on a black strip of paper and I heat embossed with white powder. I adhered this label over Vellum and I foam mounted it on the card.

Stamps: Newton’s Nook “Pineapple design”, Altenew “Fresh Fresca” (sentiment) – Inks: Distress “Spun Sugar + Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron + Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade + Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed” – Embellishment: Hero Arts “white embossing powder”, Vellum.

3/ Joyeux anniversaire / Happy birthday

To highlight the tropical colors what better than a nice mandala!

On a white cardstock I stamped and heat embossed in white this beautiful mandala. I coloured it with pens.

Then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. To highlight the image even more on the white double card, I first glued it on a blue cardstock.

To finish I added three drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops with the same colours than the coloured image.

Stamps: Uniko “Marvellous mehndi”, Simply Graphics “Planche anniversaire” (sentiment) – Inks: Versamark – Pens: Staedtler and Paper Mate – Embellishment: Tonic Studio Nuvo Crystal Drops “Dandelion, apple green, Ripened Pumpkin”.

  1. Wow, all three are bursting with gorgeous colour, Izzy. I love the first one with such vibrant colours and the added shine from the embossed ants. Your fun pineapple background design is fabulous, as is your super colourful mandala, I really must add that one to my stash, it’s stunning xx

  2. Wow Izzy! Amazing set of cards! Your juicy fruits are quite the attraction for the ants. Very CAS. But have to say your square card with the mandala is absolutely stunning! So glad you joined us at CASology this week.

  3. A trio of deliciousness Izzy! Sadly the ants liked the first card too 😀😀 and your house. What beautiful inspiration you have provided for these colours that I love so much. The mandala is perfect to show off the colours (looks like a stained glass but tropical colours, what is not to LOVE about this!), I love the randomness of the second pineapple card (a lot of work went into this one I can see) and the composition of the first is perfect. If I get a chance, I am going to play along with this challenge 😃😃😃

Inspiration fabuleux, merci! Bon dimanche! Bises, Anita 🙂

  5. Wow, Izzy. Your trio of cards are so colourful and amazing. Those ants are so cute and the scene you created with the fruits is so fun. Love the bold colours of Sarah’s card. And I love diecutting my own stamps from fun foam too. Your final card is a stunner! Gorgeous colours and colouring. So inspiring. Have a great week. 😊 Trina xx

  6. Fabulous, Izzy! I love the cute line of ants on the first card – what a great touch and a very effective border for the bottom of the card too. The bright fruits with their swirls and lines are such an eye catching background for the second card and look wonderful. It’s the mandala on the third card that’s stolen my heart though – wow! Such a brilliant design and looking perfect in those colours <3 Gorgeous. Have a great weekend! x

  7. Just delicious Izzy, your fruit cards are a brilliant showcase of the colours and good enough to eat! Love the little pesky ants although I hate them in real life. When I opened my birthday card from you I’d a feeling I might be seeing it on your blog this weekend! Ooh and another stunning example of your talents with uniko goodies. Have a fun week x

  8. I love these colourful creations, Izzy! The ants on your first card made me smile – they have hit the jackpot with all of that sweet fruit 🙂 Your pineapple card is so vibrant and you have made the mandala from Uniko really pop with those bright colours. Thanks for the inspiration x

  9. What a colorful, bright and happy looking blog post, filled with tropical colors inspiration! I especially love the mandala card -I love the way you positioned the mandala to the bottom corner. Great design. Your fruit cards both look so cheerful and happy -these colors rock! 🙂 Love the scored lines in your second card. Have a fun weekend! xxx
